Okay, with this I'm pretty much going into the people who Yzak had any kind of contact with in the series. Some of course, shall be longer than others, seeing as some characters had more of an effect on him while as he only met others once. Yay.


Dearka Elthman
Aside from Athrun and Kira being best friends and having to go through hardships throughout the war, Yzak and Dearka do the same. In the series, Yzak never really talked to Nicol much, and it was obvious he didn't have too much of a liking toward Athrun; so he was pretty much only hanging around Dearka. There wasn't much on the both of them in the beginning of the series, whenever they did something, or split up, the two of then usually went off together. [Orb's infiltration, in the desert with Andy] I think the creators put them together so much, because even though they didn't have much talk-time or development in the beginning, I think keeping them together made up for that, giving people the impression that they were best friends.

So of course the above would work out later on in the series. Going back a little bit again, it would seem like Dearka knew Yzak better than anybody else. While Nicol didn't talk much with him, and while Athrun talked sometimes and made him mad, Dearka not only talked, but usually didn't get any hostility from Yzak's short-temper. Anyway, while Yzak had his alone-time, this gave him time to calm himself and change a little bit. Though nothing really big happened to him yet. Of course this would change when he finds out Dearka is alive again.

Of course after their encounter, Yzak would be like wtf man. Cause his best friend who he formerly thought was dead was not only alive, but part of the Clyne/Orb faction. He said he wasn't going to go back to ZAFT after what he went though, especially with that psycho Patrick Zala and all the other things happening in the war at that time. Though Yzak had pulled a gun on him when meeting face to face, he doesn't pull the trigger; obvious sign of angst, the same Kira and Athrun had went though, opposing eachother, friends unable to shoot at one another since they were still friends.

The faction helped out both PLANT and Earth when needed to be help. Against the nukes aimed at PLANT and against GENESIS aimed at Earth, so Yzak was saved once by Dearka. And in the end, to return the favor, and also since Dearka did have an impact on Yzak, he saved him as well. Since at that point in the war everyone was pretty much tired of the fighting, yzak finally decided to help him out, along with the Archangel. And in the end, Dearka goes back to ZAFT with him.

As a couple? Well if you've looked at anything on my main site, you know I'm a Dearka x Yzak fan. The only thing that irks me is that people say they "can't see anything" between them yet for some reason they like Yzak and Fllay, who said all but 5 words to eachother in the entire series. I just see this as some kind of lame excuse. =P Because aside from Athrun, I think Dearka would be the most "if anyone" seeing as he's the only person Yzak seems to get along with best. They didn't want to fight eachother, they didn't *want* to be enemies in any way, and in the end they put aside the bad things they went though when they both went back to ZAFT. Not to mention the whole bodyguard "I will protect you" job Dearka has makes that all the more interesting.


Athrun Zala
Jealousy. Yzak had a whole lot of jealousy and anger directed toward Athrun in the beginning of the series. He gets easily mad at him, especially when he played some part in letting the Strike Gundam get away. Yzak was never someone who took failure very well, so Athrun doing this was not only irritating to him, but weird overall. Seeing as Athrun came out on the top of his class in almost every thing, leaving Yzak to only obtain second place. These are the roots of his jealousy toward the blue-haired boy.

Up until the middle of the series, he still wasn't getting along very well with him, once again he was chosen over him to be leader of their little squad, so Yzak had open jealousy, and open [yet fake] amusement when he went missing for a little while. After Dearka and Nicol were gone, it seemed like Yzak started to regret taking advantage of their company, so having Athrun leave too, he told him not to die.

Next Yzak hears about Athrun was that he was part of the Clyne faction, who ZAFT was going after to take out. Not only did Yzak think Lacus was innocent, but now he knew that Athrun was with them, and he was obviously disturbed about this. He didn't want to fight him at all, so this showed that Yzak was calming down, and that he was losing the childishness to be jealous of him that he formerly had.

Couple-wise? I see it as more of a power struggle. Athrun always beating him, coming out ahead of him, this would make Yzak either be submissive to him in a relationship. Or it would either give Yzak a drive to make Athrun be the submissive one. It's all on how you like it I would guess. >>; I like this couple quite a bit, even though DeaYza overshadows it greatly. There was just something about the tense relationship they both had.


Nicol Amarfi
Yzak never really interacted much with Nicol in the series. His anger after he died seemed to show that he regretted, possibly, not getting to know Nicol or talk to him much. Since they had little interaction, I dunno what else to put about them. ^___^; Couple-wise, you can kinda of say Yzak had a soft spot for him, hence why he was so torn up later on after he wad gone. I just like seeing them as a more older brother, younger brother relationship, but that's just me.


Raww Le Klueze
This, I find sort of amusing. Yzak wants to sort of be Klueze's little lap-dog in the beginning, but Klueze wants Athurn to be as such, which makes Yzak [take a guess] jealous! Klueze really plays no part personally to any of Yzak's characteristics or character changes. But then again, everyone could tell toward the end that Klueze was pretty much a psycho. Though Yzak stayed with ZAFT to be loyal to his people, I don't think he had the same drive as mentioned above toward the end anymore, especially because he was suspicious as to why Klueze was treating a captive like a queen rather than an actual prisoner. Couple? This could be a fun one if you like it, especially if you're looking at Yzak in the beginning. Yzak wanting so bad to be Klueze's favorite, Klueze using that to his advantage... =) I don't really like this one, but it does have it's alluring points.


Kira Yamato
They never met face-to-face, but Kira was one of the main impacts on Yzak. Unknownst to Kira, he was driving Yzak up the wall, since he thought that there was a Natural piloting the Strike, where as there wasn't. And to lose constantly to who Yzak thought was a Natural. Kira started to show us the pissy, immature side of Yzak with his being there. Oh but once Kira gave Yzak the scar, it just made things worse. They both hurt eachother bad unintentionally. Kira with the scar, Yzak with Menarius' shuttle. Yzak eventually got over the whole scar thing toward the middle of the series, and at the end seems to have nothing bad against Kira, because of his change from the beginning compared to the end.

Couple?! This one can be interesting too. In the beginning, an infatuated Yzak, not knowing who this person is who is so much stronger than him, keeps on beating him in battle. With so must power Kira seems to posses, you can say Yzak might want that power. ;) I guess I like this one a little bit, the thought of Yzak getting like that over it is sexy. =X


Lacus Clyne
In a Radio SEED interview, it was said that Yzak is a fan of Lacus. He never really says anything about her in the beginning, but when she breaks from ZAFT with her own followers, Yzak says that he doesn't believe she is a traitor. A lot of people look up to Lacus as an idol, hence why so many people went with her, and I think Yzak looked up to her in some way too, since he voiced his opinion on her leaving ZAFT. As a couple, maybe, Yzak's looking up to her says something, but then again most of PLANT looked up to her too. I like to think of it as more of a fanboy thing. xD;


Other people
Fllay: He was angry when she was in ZAFT, since Klueze was treating her very well instead of like a prisoner that she was, he told Klueze this, of course he didn't know what Klueze was planning on using her for. Couple? Five spoken words, where as he gets a gasp of terror in return. I don't see where people get something out of that, aside from that they were on a ship together. How someone can not think of any of the other couples as "right" or "interesting" and like this one is beyond me.

Miguel: You never ever see him talk to Yzak, but it was hinted that they knew eachother, because Yzak bought up his name a few times in the series. Angry of course, that Strike killed him. I guess this one can show that Yzak had a soft spot for his friends since the beginning, seeing as he still missed Miguel up until them.

Cagalli: He saved her near the end, not only knowing that she was part of the Orb/Clyne faction, but also knowing that her MS was a Strike, just a different color. Am I the only one who things they would make like best friends? o_O
