The episode starts immediately after the end of episode 49, in which the Dominion gets destroyed, and Mwu La Fllaga dies protecting the Archangel. Lacus, aboard the Eternal, pleads the ZAFT military to stop GENESIS before it is fired again. Murrue is crying, saying "You promised... you promised you'd return to me..." Kira senses Raww Le Klueze nearby, and breaks away from Athrun and Cagalli to go after him.

The Archangel is in bad shape after the amount of fighting it had endured, and the mechanics hurry to try and keep it safe. Fllay and the Dominion crew, who were evacuated by Natarle before it's destruction, head in their escape pod to the Archangel. Klueze and his Providence Gundam head toward the Archangel, and Dearka in the Buster try to hold it off. Dearka get's almost completely obliterated from it's DRAGOON weaponry, and a frightened Yzak rushes to his aid.

Providence and Freedom move away from the area and continue to fight, and Klueze tells Kira that he shouldn't exist. As Duel gets to Buster to help it, the two of them get attacked by Raider. Crot, who has nowhere to return, and who needs his performance enhancer drugs is having a horrible withdrawal. Duel, who is shielding Buster's (and down of it's own shield and Assault Shroud Armor) only remaining weapon gets destroyed. We go back to Klueze telling Kira that if somebody like him was discovered, anybody would want to "be like him", the Ultimate Coordinator.

Raider's attack continues, and Yzak comes up with the only idea that could possibly save the two of them. He grabs Buster's only remaining cannon, and fires. Raider is destroyed.

Kira yells that he is not only strength, Klueze retaliates by asking him who would really believe that, as the DRAGOONs keep up it's attack on Freedom. Nearby, the Dominion life-pod keeps heading toward Archangel. Kira rushed toward it to protect it, and manages to deflect a shot from Providence. Kira looks happy, until one of the DRAGOONs come up from the other side, destroying it in front of his eyes.

We see Fllay's ghost "talking" to Kira. She thanks him, apologizes to him, and explains that the whole time she was so scared, and she didn't understand everything happening around her. She tells Kira not to cry for her, and as she dissapears, she tells him she'll protect him with her true feelings. After this, Kira goes into SEED mode, looking determined.

The Archangel and Kusanagi try to fire at the GENESIS to no avail. Patrick Zala orders to fire GENESIS the moment it is ready. Athrun declairs they're going to Jachin Due's control center to stop it, Lacus looks worried about him and Cagalli, but the latter reassures that they'd be fine. Klueze now heads for the Eternal to attack it, saying that Lacus' songs aren't as peaceful as the world they all really lived in. Freedom comes swooping in to stop Providence again.

A ZAFT soldier tells Patrick Zala that they have pretty much won, and objects to his want to fire GENESIS on Earth. He gets shot. Klueze continues on with his explaining to Kira about humanity; how it repeats the same mistakes and foolishly believes that someday things will change. Angered now, Zala moves to a keyboard and links GENESIS' fire to Jachin Due's self-destruction, even at the cost of so many soldiers still fighting out there. The ZAFT soldier that he just shot was not killed, and slowly pulls a gun on Zala, shooting him back multiple times.

At that moment, Athrun and Cagalli enter the room as the entire staff leaves. They approach Athrun's father, who, with his last breath, begs Athrun to fire GENESIS to protect their world. The Clyne faction ships all meet up again, and Duel has just launched from the Archangel again, donning Strike's old shield and beam rifle (irony XD). Athrun finds what his father did regarding GENESIS and Jachin Due, and meanwhile, radicals are shocked with what's going on, and are subdued by Eileen Kanaba and those who supported Siegel Clyne.

Providence and Freedom keep fighting. Justice and Strike Rouge make escape from Jachin Due, Athrun decides to self destruct Justice to stop everything, and goes back. Cagalli chases him, and tries to reason with him, saying that he can't escape this way, and that the real fight was merely to live. Freedom, which is now almost destroyed, still fights on, Kira saying that he has a world to protect. It impales Providence through the cockpit, and even as he dies, Klueze has a twisted smile.

Jachin Due starts self destructing, linked to GENESIS' fire. GENESIS starts to fire, and Freedom escapes, having been fighting Providence in front of it. At that moment, Justice self destructs to stop GENESIS. There is a huge explosion and blinding blast. Find the Way starts, and we see Yzak staring at it, as well as Dearka, Murrue, Miriallia Ssigh and the bridges of the other Clyne-Faction ships. Lacus's yells something and moves to the window, and stares out worriedly.

An announcement starts up to everybody in ZAFT and Earth militaries. About PLANT seeking cease-fire agreements with the Earth, and the possibility to stop all military action. We see the Strike Rouge, and both Athrun and Cagalli are inside, they start crying. Tori starts flying through space, and the two follow it. Freedom is pretty much gone, and Kira is floating nearby it. He asks himself; "Why have we come to this place?" and starts crying.

He sees a light coming toward him, it's Tori and the Strike Rouge. Still crying, Athrun and Cagalli are smiling, heading toward him. Kira smiles too, and closes his eyes. "Our world..."
