What is a fanlisting?
From TAFL, fanlisting is a web clique that lists fans of a particular subject. Unlike most web cliques, a person does not need a web site in order to join. Fans from around the world submit their information to their approved fanlisting and they are then listed to show their love for the subject.

Kakumeiki Valvrave
Kakumeiki Valvrave, (or Valvrave the Liberator) is a Japanese mecha anime series, produced by Sunrise, which premiered on April 12, 2013. The series is set in a futuristic date of the 71st year of the True Era, where 70% of all human beings have migrated from Earth. Three factions known as the Dorssia Military Pact Federation, the Atlantic Ring United States (ARUS), and the neutral nation JIOR are caught up in war. Tokishima Haruto, a high school student from the faction of JIOR discovers a mysterious and powerful mecha called Valvrave and uses it to defend JIOR's Module 77 from a Dorssian invasion. But the Valvrave requires a certain sacrifice from Haruto in order to pilot it, and turns him into what he views as a monster...

A-drei
Spoilers ahead!
A-drei (meaning A3 in German) is a Dorssian soldier, whose team infiltrated Module 77 in order to steal the Valvrave. In true mecha trope fashion, this did not happen. What happened instead was highschool student Tokishima Haruto got into the Valvrave, gave up his humanity in order to pilot it, became a bodyjacking vampire and took over the body of L-elf, a comrade who A-drei has (what he considers, anyway) a strong friendship with. "L-elf" shoots at them, and A-drei gets shot, losing an eye in the process. Overcome with anger, vengeance and above all the determined belief that he can convince L-elf to rejoin them, A-drei tries his hardest to infiltrate Module 77 and capture the Valvraves. But despite his best efforts and wish for L-elf to return and become his right hand man, L-elf remains on the module as part of his own grand plan for his own revolution.

My "reason I love this character and applied for this fanlisting" story is embarrassing as hell. Once upon a time a girl who absolutely loved Yzak Jule of Gundam SEED fame and Dio Eraclea of Last Exile fame came across a tweet while browsing Japanese twitters for Dio-related things, soon after the Valvrave site went live with the character list. The link was obviously to A-drei because of how similar he looks to both aforementioned characters. This girl saw this character and laughed and then saw that Valvrave was a Sunrise mecha series, so decided she'd give it a watch all because of this one character. "Oh," she figured, "he probably won't be anything like either Yzak or Dio or fit my type at all." And then she watched the first two episodes and started sobbing in silent acceptance that she was doomed because in just those two episode he hit every character ping she had and she fell grossly in love. You win this time, Sunrise.

Layout
This layout was made using screencaps made and edited by me from the second ED, Soba ni Iru yo as well as various episodes. I loved the hell out of all of the Dorssian shots in the ED so I literally went to edit a clean version of A-drei in it right after I got my hands on the episode.
